Cades 2004 Christmas Letter

It seems like ages ago, but we had a great start to the year on the Haine’s Farm.  The cows, the rambling farmhouse, loads of space and kids playing together.  The boys say their favourite part was a ride across the field in the back of a 4x4 truck

Daniel’s 8th

3 year old driver!

Daniel had his first go at rock-climbing
(indoor!) at his 8th birthday party.
Ian loved the go-carts.

Our church’s 10th anniversary celebration
included an art exhibition—which showed the
boys’ sculptures, drawings and an original
story.

Ian’s 4th                         Daniel in Real Digger!

On Ian’s birthday, we finally made it to
“Diggerland”.   Lucy’s been looking forward
to operating a real digger for years.

It was as cool as we hoped, the boys had a
blast (Ian seemed to like the bouncy castle as
much as the diggers).  Daniel mastered the
scoop and impressed the grown-ups with his
coordination.

Lucy found a great way to commemorate ten years since her Dad died---when she joined her friend Tricia and three thousand other runners  in Cambridge who raised money to help those with cancer.

Lucy was excited about getting all 3 Boys into school full-time.  Although she finished working on the committee @ the nursery school, she’s found more than enough to keep herself busy.

In the summer Ian learned to ride his bike  without stablisers (US=training wheels).  Dad was so proud, he made a “stabliser cake” and invited loads of friends to join us for a picnic and party to celebrate.

The summer was dotted with long weekends and “mini-holidays” to places like LegoLand, Dinosaur & Adventure Park.  Seeing the boys  “crabbing” between huge boulders @ the seaside was priceless.

   Lucy’s Grandad Bill died
this  winter.  We will all miss
him, but none as much as
Granny—who would have
celebrated their 64th
anniversary this month.

Our respect for the folks who run the boys school,
Mayfield Primary, was confirmed and strengthened
when we saw how everyone rallied ‘round
and worked together after the school
building suffered from a major fire!

Birthday Boy

Simon’s birthday party was one of the best.
A half a dozen friends at Wandlebury Country
Park, some camouflage face-paint, and combat
clothes, picnic lunches (and stuff
to roast marshmallows!)

Invite some student friends
from church, throw in a
few games, and—Ta-Da!
