Journal Entry for August 25th 1999

Well, the building work has finally started again.   Looks like we're set for it to finish at the end of November--so far anyway.

Found another door at the "tip".  Real wood one which are old like we want are about £50 to buy but they get snatched up so quick in FreeAds!  We won't mind if we can get them free instead.

Tim an Ania are in Poland and Greg and Jane had their first baby Nathaniel--everyone's fine and he was over 9 pounds I think.

Integrating my

with my PC is still eluding me at the moment.  But I won't give up.

Speaking of our PC, we're about to buy our first one since the one I bought in the late 80s (A 386SX with a few megabytes of RAM and a massive 89 Mbytes of disk space!  No CDROM of course, but it came with the new fangled 3.5 inch diskette drive)!  Anyway, I could buy one for under a grand, but I want to hold off and spec out and by my own.   Besides saving cash, it'll be a good experience to have picked the bits and put them all together.  Definitely gonna get a CDread/writer to do my backups on and plenty of memory for the video editing.  If anyone has any suggestions for hands-down best prices, please email me (gotta be a UK company or one who ships cheap here or has a subsidary here).   There's enough stuff out there on the web on buying your own PC to make my head spin, but it still leaves some of the bits I know least about (picking the best manufacturers for each part and best price for each part) which will just take time I guess.

Passed my 5th of 6 Exams, Networking Essentials last week.  Lastly is IIS which I take on 16th of Sep then I'll be an MCSE-finally!

Hey, this is an update and it's LESS THAN a month!  Wow, wonder if that'll happen again?
