Danny starts Nursery school (U.S. read "Pre-School") today. We're so pleased to have got him into what we think is the best one around. Teachers and staff very positive and encouraging. It's ran really well.
Last night was my first night on a new course to help equip me in my work in our Church. It's a small group of about 9 or so and Simon leading our discussion and study and praying. It's nice to share the drive to and from Huntingdon with Matt and Gabriel--to get a chance to get to know them better and bounce the ideas around on the way home as well.
As I was walking today, I remembered something that happened last time we were in America that I thought was amusing. Let me know if you think so:
We were at Six Flags (Dallas' DisneyLand) with Michael . While Lucy and the boys were riding the kiddie rides, us men went to conquer a roller-coaster. It was only after the ominous 'safety bar' came down that I thought, "I haven't been on one of these things for a decade or more. I wonder if I can still handle it" The question was purely rhetorical since we were already "CLACK-CLACK-CLACK"'ing along being tugged and towed up the first hill. We then barreled down various steep hills, round loops (and around loops backwards). It was a lot of centrifugal force and speed, but before I knew it it was all over.
I was in a hurry to get back to Lucy and Michael and I talked excitedly along the way. We got back to the kiddie rides and I went on one of those silly baby car rides with the boys. Delayed reactions are funny... This little train ride went around and around a small track--at pretty slow speed. Babies and toddlers were laughing and smiling and everything else they do. And about this time I started getting the dizziness and nausea from the rollercoaster ten minutes ago! I tried closing my eyes. Tried focusing on a spot on the floor and concentrating. Anything to avoid the embarassment of "hurling" (a.k.a. "blowing chunks") on a ride approved for anyone two feet tall or more! Thankfully my stomach stayed put and the ride stopped. I acted pseudo-normal and had a sit for a few minutes on a bench that was still. Five minutes later I was laughing about it. But I wouldn't have thought it so funny if it hadn't ended so mercifully.
